My name is Jessi Wendlandt and I am a current student in the Web Development and Design Specialist Program at NWTC. While I am currently working on an Associate of Science degree, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2007, and a Master of Science in Education degree in 2011, studying psychology, biology, creative writing, and professional counseling. At NWTC, I will also be completing certificates in Design and Graphic Software, Social Media Design, and Programming in Python.

I am pursuing my education part-time as I work full-time assisting students navigate their college journey as an Academic and Career Advisor at UW-Stevens Point and also work as an artist and business manager/marketer for the business my partner and I have called, New Leaf Sculpture, LLC.

Why study Web Development and Design?

In my work as an Academic Advisor, I have always been known as the "techy" advisor, and have always enjoyed digital photography and digital design. I was always mystified by the magic behind the front-end and back-end development of websites! I wanted to engage in professional development related to this area so I can design our business website for New Leaf Sculpture, LLC. I may also expand or change my roles in my higher education career and/or assist in web design and development for small to medium sized businesses.

I have completed most of the front-end development classes in HTML and CSS, we well as design courses in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Now I will transition into the next mythical phase of my journey: JavaScript and the back-end development classes!
