Jessi, the Web Designer and Developer

I love the area where technology meets design, and especially where technology and design can provide quality communication and life transformation. I began the quest to learn web development and design in 2024 through the Web Development and Design program at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC). I seek to use my skills in web design and development as a tool to live out my life purpose, or to help others live out theirs. That may mean partnering with a small business to help them build a website that matches the goals and mission of their business. It may mean diving deeper into instructional design to help instructors develop courses that provide quality and effective education to students.

The truth is my heart will always be with higher education or industries that support healing, growth, and learning in people and I create designs that reflect the heart of the business and help to meet the goals of the business.

Web Design Projects

Since I am working full-time and going to school part-time, the projects below have been part of classes for my degree at NWTC. I am still learning, and will be completing the following courses in the future: JavaScript and DOM, JavaScript and Node, JavaScript Framework, PHP, C# Programming, and ASP.NET.

UW-Stevens Point Academic and Career Advising Center

In the spring 2026 semester, I completed an internship experience for my current place of employment, the Academic and Career Advising Center (ACAC) at UW-Stevens Point (UWSP). The entire campus migrated its websites from the MicroSoft SharePoint content management system to WordPress. I designed and migrated the ACAC website, and assisted our Student Communication Specialist to complete the websites for the Disability Resource Center (DRC) and Tutoring-Learning Center (TLC). Moving forward, I will be managing the Academic and Career Advising website.

WordPress

This is the current live New Leaf Sculpture, LLC website using the WordPress content management system. Although I have taken WordPress Theme Development, I still need to learn more about PHP coding, and for now created our website using an already built theme.

I will be taking JavaScript and PHP in the 2026-27 academic year and in addition to the skills I gained in my class, WordPress Theme Development, I hope to be able to more creatively make our business website our own!

Web UI-UX Advanced

This is my final project for Web UI-UX Advanced, which dives even deeper into HTML, CSS, and some use of JavaScript. Our final project was to create a website for the Digital Arts Showcase that was taking place that semester.

Web Front-End Design

This is my final project for Web Front-End Design 1, where I was able to dive deeper into using HTML and CSS, while also applying design principles and accessibility standards. For this project I also chose to develop a mock website for our business, New Leaf Sculpture, LLC that includes additional UI elements than my final project in Website Coding.

Website Coding

This is my final project for my first coding class, Website Coding. It was the first class I took in my program and where I learned HTML and CSS for the first time. Since one of my goals with my education is to benefit our business, New Leaf Sculpture, LLC, and we could choose any theme for our final project, I created a mock website for our business.
