Jessi, the Academic and Career Advisor
I currently work full-time at UW-Stevens Point as an Academic and Career Advisor and am honored to serve hundreds of students in navigating their first semesters of their college experience. I love working with people at this stage in life, whether it is occurring immediately after high school, or long after any type of formal education. It’s a time of exploration, transformation, challenges, and successes and I love providing support through conversations, degree planning, course registration, and navigation to other resources as needed so that they can continue to progress towards their goals, even if those goals are still a work in progress or change along the way.
I am a student-centered advisor that focuses on equipping students to take initiative in their own growth and learning, be able to self-advocate, and move forward in a positive direction from any failure or perceived failure experienced.
Jessi, the Instructional Designer
While I love working directly with students, I also have a growing passion and skill set for instructional design. I currently am the lead designer for the UWSP Academic and Career Advising Center (ACAC) canvas course that serves to guide students in their first three semesters in major and career exploration, degree planning, and career preparation through timely and thoughtful modules students can engage in and receive feedback for. In addition to the canvas course, I create and distribute the ACAC weekly newsletter sent to all of our students each week during the academic year and design and maintain the ACAC website, which utilizes the WordPress content management system.
I look forward to seeing how my work as an advisor and instructional designer will influence future opportunities!
